WarSam adalah Singkatan Warung Sampet. Ini adalah bulletin berita yang disarikan oleh Kompas. Terinspirasi oleh Warung Tegal (WarTeg) maka dinamakanlah buletin tersebut WARSAM.
Bagi mereka yang pada saat itu bergabung dengan PT Samudra Petrindo Asia, tentunya hafal akan keberadaann WarSam.
Pada saat itu Internet mulai masuk dikapal lewat fasilitas Inmarsat Mini-M. Sekitar awal tahun 1995an.
Saat itu belum ada yang mengkomersialkan bisnis ini. Ternyata ada perusahaan di India yang melihat peluang ini dan menjual jasanya. Mereka pernah menghubungi saya untuk menjadi agen berita di Indonesia. Karena kesibukan saya, saya menolak tawaran tersebut dan mengarahkan mereka ke kantor berita Antara.
Kalau tidak salah pada saat itu mereka menjual servisnya usd1/- (satuusd) perkapal perhari.
Itulah sejarah yang bisa menjadi pelajaran bagi kita semua. Tentunya banyak kisah menarik mengenai WarSam. Bagi mereka yang ingin sharing, silahkan sharing disini. Buat saya kenangan manis/pahit akan menjadi upah sepadan bagi upaya say (kita) bersama.
